NATURALLY PERFECT® WOOD PROTECTION

A first-of-its kind building in San Francisco is protected with Sansin. Considered a milestone for mass timber in California, the 134,000-square foot triangular 1 De Haro is the first cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure in San Francisco and is also California’s first multi-story mass timber building. The mixed-use commercial project, which targets LEED Gold certification, was developed by SKS Partners and designed by Perkins&Will. A shimmering glass exterior wraps around the structure’s wooden core, creating a connection between the interior and exterior. Supplied by Nordic Structures, the mass timber creates warmth while also offering a dramatically reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional construction. Sansin’s KP-12 UVW was applied to the CLT in Nordic’s factory, with vertical posts receiving two coats of Precision Coat Purity Glacier. The use of Sansin’s low-VOC finishes not only brings out the character of the wood, but also offers dimensional stability and superior protection. Precision Coat Dealer, Gray’s Paint, supported this project with product and on-site support.
