Sansin Helps Foster Sustainability on University of Washington Campus

February 2024 —–
February 2024 project of the month

The Foster School of Business Founders Hall at the University of Washington, designed by LMN Architects and built by Hoffman Construction Company, is the first fully mass timber building on campus. Protected with Sansin, the greenest building at UW is an 85,000-square foot facility designed to achieve 76% reduction in cumulative carbon emissions. The mass timber is sourced from sustainable managed forests and finished with a system of Sansin’s low-VOC coatings that bring out the beauty of the wood while providing superior protection. The columns and beams were pre-coated with Sansin Eos by partner Western Archrib, and Purity Glacier was applied to the columns on-site. The glulam stair treads and landing on the signature staircase are coated with Sansin Eos, followed by a second coat of Sansin Purity Floor – Gloss with a final coat and desired sheen of Sansin Purity Floor – Low-Luster.
