The Edelman Fossil Park and Museum of Rowan university is one of the largest net zero carbon emission public buildings in New Jersey. This project features beautiful west Dek GLT panels and glulam to maximize renewable resources. This project designed by Ennead Architects, KSS Architects and G&A is home to thousands of fossils across its 44,000 square feet. The building was designed using energy Petal Certification requirements of the Living Building Challenge as a foundation. This project also received the 2025 Green Good Design Award, awarded to projects with exceptional sustainable design.

Sansin KP-12 UVW was applied as a low-VOC low-luster protective coating. This product is a penetrating protective undercoat for timber, dimensional laminated lumber, and engineered wood components like CLT. KP-12 UVW combines long term UV protection with enhanced water repellency,
protecting wood against rot and weathering during construction.

Sansin KP-50 was used as the finish coat offering a tough durable finish. KP-50 can be applied to any surface and has the ability to improve the performance of other coatings. KP-50 is highly resistant to wear, doesn’t discolor over time and provides some of the best UV protection available.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Headquarters and Multi-Tenant Commercial Building is a progressive three-storey, 127,000-square-foot exposed mass timber project in Toronto. Its open design encourages shared space and interaction between staff and tenants, while the wood interior and exterior create warmth, natural beauty, and a strong connection to nature. Selected for its beauty, durability and sustainable qualities, the exterior timber soffits were protected with Sansin KP-30 in the color Natural Cedar and two coats of Sansin KP-32 for lasting performance. The interior columns and beams were protected with KP-12 and two coats of PC Purity Interior Glacier in a low-luster finish.

This classic Ontario farmhouse blends timeless rural charm with modern function. Tucked away on a quiet dirt road, is a vision brought to life by homeowners with a dream of a timber frame bungalow. What began as a vacant rural farm, is now a forever family home. This projects features exceptional craftsmanship throughout, with wood products from WoodWorking Network 40 Under 40 Winners – Woodview Farm & Forest Products Ltd. This cherished home featuring Sage Green exterior cladding and natural interior tones, is the perfect balance for the happy owners who now dwell there.

Sansin SDF in Sage Green was used on the pine ship lap on the exterior of this project. One coat of Sage Green SDF was applied followed by 2 coats of Sage Green ENS. The Douglas fir timber and window trims were also protected with SDF in Roasted Almond. Sansin Purity Clear was used on interior wood floors to protect while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.

The Clemson University Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center is a signature Mass Timber project that redefines the campus landscape. This dynamic hub centralizes key university departments such as the Visitor center, Admissions Office, and Careers Center – creating a single destination for students, alumni leadership, and industry partners. The building embodies Clemson’s commitment to innovation and sustainability through it’s hybrid mass timber structural system integrating exposed timber elements for an inviting aesthetic that aligns with the university’s celebrated forestry programs. Sansin specified the Firestop 99 coating system for the exposed timber columns, providing essential fire protection while preserving the natural beauty of the exposed wood.

Tucked into the lush landscape of historic Fort Langley, Form Studio is a modest yet striking workspace designed by Form Studio Architects. The building’s quiet presence is elevated by a carefully crafted wood façade, finished with Sansin SDF— Labrador Brown. Sansin SDF is a durable, low-VOC (volatile organic compound) wood finish, chosen not only for its environmental benefits but also for its ability to protect the cedar cladding from moisture and weather. The exterior cladding features western red cedar, milled into two complementary profiles: wide 1×10 boards create a smooth surface, while slender 2×2 battens add texture and visual depth. SDF Onyx was used on the plywood elements, adding subtle contrast and depth while maintaining a cohesive, modern palette. The workspace blends into its lush surroundings through thoughtful detailing and high-performance finishes, providing both aesthetic appeal and longevity, making it ideal for the Pacific Northwest’s climate.

Located in Banff National Park, the Okâch – Îyethkabi Oûgitûbi pavilion is a community gathering place that showcases regenerative architecture. Built by HSS Design Build Ltd., the pavilion features mass timber construction, using locally sourced dowel laminated timber (DLT) panels for its structure. The design, inspired by the region’s rustic, prairie-style architecture, harmonizes with the natural surroundings. A large overhang protects the building, supporting its 100-year design life. For enhanced beauty and durability, exterior cedar timbers are finished with Sansin SDF – Espresso, shielding the wood from water and UV damage throughout Banff’s fluctuating climate – cold dry winters and warm summers.

Set at the edge of a meadow and framed by a serene pine forest, The Pointing Dog House by Johnston Architects is a beautiful example of modern design rooted in natural harmony. Located in Winthrop, Washington—a region defined by cold winters and hot, dry summers—the home is thoughtfully constructed to respond to both environmental demands and aesthetic aspirations.

To protect and preserve the exposed wood components, Sansin Precision Coat KP-30 in the colors Fawn 1208 and Blacksmith 1196 were applied as two coats, offering superior protection while maintaining the natural beauty of the timber. This careful balance of form and function underscores the project’s commitment to sustainable building practices and high-performance materials.

Nestled in the heart of Boston, the David Rubenstein Treehouse at Harvard University designed by Studio Gang, showcases a forward-looking approach to sustainable design. The 55,000 square foot structure pairs mass timber with innovative low-carbon concrete to create a serene, nature-connected environment. Its exterior is finished in Sansin’s WoodForce Pale Gray WF-01, a 0-VOC, naturally weathering wood treatment that delivers exceptional water repellency and protection from UV, moisture, and blackening. Pale Gray offers the wood a calming presence while transitioning into a naturally weathered look. Together, these elements present a model for healthy, low-impact building that sets a compelling example for Boston and institutions around the world.

Settled on North Pender Island, British Columbia, Clam Bay demonstrates a harmony between architecture, and nature. Designed by Blue Sky Architecture, this project conforms naturally to the lines of the forested hills and the ocean front. The roof is constructed of Douglas Fir glulam rafters are set precisely to create an organic curving roofline. The featured entry way is built using red cedar on the walls and trim. The beautifully accented Douglas fir pivot door, trim, and facia on the inside and outside of the home are protected with two coats of SDF – Natural Cedar.

Revelstoke Mountain Retreat is nestled at the foot of Mount Mackenzie in Revelstoke, British Columbia. This private retreat demonstrates craftmanship while radiating warmth in its alpine setting. The quality timber supplied by Canadian Timberframes compliment the mountains and towering evergreen forest. The interior and exterior timbers’ character is enhanced and protected with two coats of Sansin SDF in a custom color. Sansin SDF is a penetrating finish for exterior and interior wood surfaces. SDF provides tough, effective protection with specially formulated oils and resins that penetrate the wood. SDF provides water resistance, and UV protection as a water-borne, low-VOC technology.
